1. What is your personal goal or aim with regards to the contribution to Project Orion 3, in addition to the effort of Turtle conservation?

I aim to contribute in some way or many to this project by helping out the villagers in their turtle conservation efforts. Aside from that, I will be involved in other areas such as painting murals, mangrove replanting as well as
organizing some activities for the youth etc. My goal is do something that the benefits the community over there.

2. What motivates and inspires you to take up Project Orion 3?

I’m thankful for this opportunity to go for Project Orion 3. As I haven’t gone for a YEP before, this is the first time I’m staying away from home for so long to experience the simplicity of rural life which is very different from my comfort zone. I hope this journey will provide me with many different experiences by understanding the villagers’ living conditions, cultures and their way of life.

3. What are your views on Turtle conservation?

I believe more could be done to help in raising awareness of turtle conservation in Malaysia. Over at Terengganu, site tours can be conducted to show the public on how the turtle habitats are being monitored closely to ensure quantity of egg harvest as well as recent extinction rates of the turtle populations in the world. The villagers can also be educated on the impact of fisheries on the sea turtle populations.

4. How do you hope to further maximize the effort of the team in Turtle Conservation?

I hope to learn more about turtle conservation over there, and at the same time provide my services in any possible ways. At the end of the project, we can share our experiences with the scouts in Singapore and teach them the importance of turtle conservation etc.
